For those who are following the No Days Off Twitter and Instagram Feeds, you may have noticed me talking about the "No sugar, No Grains" diet. I picked this up from reading Vinnie Tortorich's book Fitness Confidential. You may also recognize that book from our Fitness Book Club. I''m going to be talking a lot more about this book and the No Sugar, No Grains (NSNG) diet. After reading Vinnie's book I am on a mission to completely cut out grains and sugars from my diet.

I am not completely there, but I would say that I have cut out a huge amount of sugars and grains from my diet and have upped the servings of fat in my diet. I will be doing a weekly check in with how this diet is going focusing on 3 things: How I feel, how i'm sleeping, and the impacts on my body.

Lets start today's blog with what i think is the most important and more obvious impact, how I feel day to day. In future blogs I'll share with you the impact on my sleep and my performance during workouts.

How I feel

The most immediate thing I started feeling just after a day or 2 of cutting our sugar and grains and upping the fats is that I lost all my "hunger pains". I usually get up around 6, eat breakfast at 7:30 and on most days before NSNG I was STARVING by 10:30. I would usually reach for a granola bar (which i thought was a healthy choice) to tide me over until lunch, but by 12:30 I could feel those hunger pains coming on again.

Quick ad to Pay the Bills: This does not even feel like an ad because I cannot RECOMMEND THIS BOOK ENOUGH. If you want to get on NSNG this book is so worth the investment. Click the link in the image below if you want to check it out.

2 days into NSNG the hunger pains were gone. Now I start the day with scrambled eggs and Avocado and I am GOOD until lunch. I'll probably have a coffee with some coconut Oil in it but no hunger pains, no cravings and tons of more energy. Some days if I am really busy at work I blow right by lunch and do not even notice. The high fat diet keeps me feeling satiated and full of energy. In future blog posts I'll share some of what i've been eating, but if you want to try NSNG and need some ideas of what to eat The book Eat Happy, has got you covered, its also in the fitness book club.

Next week I will check some of the food i've been eating while on NSNG and some of the impacts this change has had on my workouts.
